Family STEAM Night & Event Volunteers

SAFG holds Family STEAM Nights (FSNs) throughout the school year at SAfG elementary schools. Each FSN is designed to engage K-6th grade students and their families in hands-on STEAM projects.

Dates: Weekday evenings during the school year 2026-2027 dates TBA
Times: Typically 4:30/5pm - 6:30/7pm. Volunteers arrive 1 hour early.
Shift assignments: Assist at an activity station, set up/clean up, welcome table, food service.
Requirements: 15+ years old

Twice a year, SAFG holds larger Family STEAM Events (FSEs) at non-school locations. Like FSN’s, they are designed to engage K-6th grade students and their families in hands-on STEAM projects, but on a larger scale and often including extra features such as speakers and raffle prizes.

Dates: Two Saturdays during the school year 2026-2027 dates TBA
Times: Typically 10/11am - 2/3pm. Volunteer shifts of 2-5 hours
Shift assignments: Assist at an activity station, set up/clean up, welcome table, food service, and more
Requirements: 15+ years old

Other ways to support family STEAM events:
- Be an activity partner (provide the activity, materials and volunteers for one or more activity stations)
- Donate raffle prizes
- Sponsor pizza or snacks (kids learn better when fed!)
- Be a host site for a Saturday Family STEAM Event
- Provide translation services (English to Spanish) for activity guides
