Changing the Face of Science in Oakland and the East Bay Starts Here!
Support SAfG's 2018-2019 Girl's Scholarship Drive Today!
Women, especially minorities, are underrepresented in STEM fields. Women are losing out on access to jobs that pay on average 33% more than other jobs. Children can lose interest in science and math as early as 3rd grade, and research shows that out-of-school time is an ideal place to engage children in STEM. However, STEM programs are expensive and out of reach to many children in Oakland and the East Bay. If we are serious about diversifying STEM, it starts here - with young kids who need our support to provide them with engaging hands-on science.
If you would like to be a part of the solution, please donate to the Scientific Adventures for Girls 2018-2019 Scholarship Donor Drive. You would be providing girls in Oakland/East Bay an opportunity to attend a 10-week after school STEM session, fall in love with STEM and set them up for success, and help SAfG to change the face of science.
Please consider donating what you can
ALL donations will help SAfG meet its goal.
$250 will send a young girl to a 10-week, hands-on, engaging, after school STEM session this 2018-2019 school year. Our goal is to raise $15,000 so that 60 more girls can attend STEM classes this school year.
Please let your friends, family and colleagues know about SAfG and our donor drive - we are trying to increase our reach and can only do that with your help.
We look at science as something very elite, which only a few people can learn. That's just not true. You just have to start early and give kids a foundation. Kids live up, or down, to expectations.
