Outdoor Challenges

  • Flower Scavenger Hunt - Find 5 different types of flowers growing outside!

  • Rainbow Scavenger Hunt - Find something of every color of the rainbow! Red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple!

  • Sponge Bulls-Eye Game - Create target circles and point amounts on the ground. Using soaked sponges or little rags, attempt to hit the targets. The wet spots show your score. Add up your points to see who wins!

Indoor Challenges

  • Write or tell your own story about an astronaut in space, like Kalpana Chawla. In your story you decide what she sees when she looks out into space. Does she miss her friends and family? Does she feel lonely or is she happy? What is it like to see the entire planet Earth through a window? And what's it like when your hair stands up the whole time and you are always floating through the air? If you write your own story, make sure to include drawings and a cover page!

  • Flower Design- Draw your own flower and name it. What does the inside look like? Does it have a scent to attract insects?

  • Bean Art- Make some bean art with dried beans, paper and glue! How many beans did you use? Try making a picture with only 100 beans!

  • Recycled Bottle Cap Art- Collect plastic or metal bottle caps and glue them to a piece of paper to make a picture. Can you make a flower, caterpillar or a snowman? Check out this site for some ideas!

  • Build a Sheet Fort or a Pillow Fort- How will you make it stable? Watch these videos to help you out! How to Build a Sheet Fort and How to Build a Pillow Fort

  • "Design a bird"- Imagine you’re a scientist that discovered a new type of bird! What does it look like? What does it eat? Where does it live? Draw a picture or make a sculpture of your bird and name it! You can add labels and words to make it a scientific model.

  • Make a Scramble Square Puzzle!- Challenge your brain by making your own puzzle and solving it! Then share it with a friend or family member to see if they can solve it. What does your puzzle look like?
