This 2025-2026 school year, 38 amazing female STEM professionals volunteered their time to be Role Models for our elementary school girls.

Role Models are a vital piece of our 27-week program. Meeting real women who are active in or pursuing STEM careers makes these possibilities feel tangible and achievable. By sharing their experiences, Role Models help spark curiosity, build confidence, and show girls that they belong in STEM. We are deeply grateful for the time, energy, and inspiration they bring.

By the numbers:

• 3 class units (Biomimicry, Legos, Slime) 

• 3 Role Models who visited 5 schools each!

• 24 schools (each get 1 visit per unit)

• 38 Role Models

• 240 volunteer hours

• 920 inspired girls

Adopt a Lesson

Need a company or team building activity? Want to make a tangible impact on engaging girls in STEM? Then Adopt a Lesson!

What: Sponsor and assemble the materials needed for 1-2 STEM lessons at 25 school sites
Who: Teams of 10-40 volunteers recommended, SAfG provides 1-2 activity guides
When: Weekdays, 1-2 hours recommended
Location: Your office or SAfG’s Berkeley office

The Need:
SAfG serves nearly 1000 TK-6th grade girls through 2-3 classes at 25 schools and program sites over 27 weeks. That's 1,485 classes to prep for (not to mention summer and spring camps!)

Your Impact:
By sponsoring and preparing class materials, not only do you reduce SAfG’s material costs, but you also help us save hundreds of teacher hours that can be better focused to directly support our girls. In 2025-26, 13 companies donated a value of $33,000 and 650 volunteer hours - or about the cost and hours needed to support an entire school for a full program year!

In turn, your company not only supports our mission to engage elementary school girls in STEM, but turns a team meeting into an engaging, rewarding bonding experience that directly impacts your local community.
